March 31st 2006 was a momentous occasion
in the Rock calendar when, in order to pay tribute to
the late great Tommy Vance the Royal Albert Hall opened
its doors to the Rock fraternity for the first time.
Boned had the privilege of opening
the evening to be followed by Ian Gillan, the Scorpions
and Judas Priest.
As well as paying tribute to a true
legend the night was also raising much needed money
for a very worthy cause, the Teenage Cancer Trust. Boned
returned to the studio to re-record the special set
list they performed that night and leave the last words
to Tommy’s family...
‘BONED were the very last band
that Tommy enthused over before his untimely death in
2005.
He loved their raw energy and irreverence
and played their music constantly. It was fitting that
they were the opening act on our tribute night in March
2006 at the Royal Albert Hall in honour of Tommy. They
blew the cobwebs off the Albert Hall right from the
start and set the tone for what turned out to be one
of the best nights The Teenage Cancer Trust had ever
had.
It was wonderful for us that they were
able to step up to the plate and perform on what was
a truly memorable night for us all.’
‘Thanks BONED!’ – Cookie, Danny &
Jessie Vance – July 2006
